- During the Korean War
- During WWII
Service Requirements for National Guard Members
If you served between the Gulf War and now, you need at least 90 days of active duty. Otherwise, you must have served:- At least 90 days of non-training active-duty service, or
- At least 90 days of activity-duty service, or
- Six creditable years in the National Guard and discharged honorably or retired
Service Requirements for Reserves
If you served between the Gulf War and now, you need at least 90 days of active duty. Otherwise, you need at least 90 days of non-training active-duty service or six creditable years in the selected reserve. Besides any of the two previously mentioned, you were- Discharged honorably, or
- Placed on the retired list, or
- Transferred to Standby Reserve or element of the Ready Reserve, or
- Are still part of the Selected Reserve
Exceptional Circumstances
You may still be eligible for a VA loan if you were discharged due to:- Hardship, or
- At the convenience of the government after serving at least 20 months of a two-year enlistment, or
- Early out after serving at least 20 months of a two-year enlistment, or
- Reduction in force, or
- Medical conditions, or
- Service-connected disability
